Durra Bint Goudah, an Asil filly foal born May 2008. Her sire is Goudah, an Egyptian stallion bred at Al Zahara, Egypt, owned by HRH The Prince of Wales and standing at stud here at Pearl Island Arabians. Her dam is Shuwaimeh Danah, an Asil Bahraini mare bred here at Pearl Island Arabians.

Durra Bint Goudah

On the 18th June 2008 Shuwaimeh Danah really caught us unawares by producing this lovely Straight Egyptian x Bahraini filly three weeks early. Danah must have taken to the first service by Goudah and then cheekily returned to him after three weeks despite being in foal! Whilst doing the late afternoon checks round the broodmares field we found Danah standing proudly over her newly arrived daughter. There had been little evidence that the birth was imminent and as we had her marked down as a July foal we were taken completely by surprise to find that on one of the few fine days this summer Danah had taken herself off to a sunny corner of the field and had her baby girl. Early days but it looks as though the foal may stay Liver chestnut. Danah's sire is Chestnut and Goudah's grandmother was a Liver Chestnut so we are hoping this filly will keep the colour and not go grey/white. Here in Hereford greys are so difficult to keep clean and after a roll in Herefordshire's rich red earth they tend to go PINK !!!!!.

Durra Bint Goudah is a strong filly and once again has inherited a good temperament from both her dam and sire. She is not such an extravagant mover as Navaz Bint Goudah. Durra spends less time elevated, preferring to move with a lower ground ground eating pace. She has the paces of an excellent war mare and as such will make a perfect future endurance mare!
